It was at a little semi-outside eatery where I heard a young woman telling the people she was eating with that she had decided that she was not going to have children. Her friends wondered why. It turns out she could not stand the idea of punishing them, dealing with all the tears and bad feelings, theirs and hers.
After getting permission to enter this conversation, I told her about my approach. At the time it was called the Power of Respect (the 1 Rule is just as powerful, but simpler, faster).
After I had explained how it created harmony, without punishment (just like the 1 Rule), she exclaimed, "That's every parent's dream come true!"
